Douglas Stewart
Douglas Stewart (Pharoah) is an art therapist, poet, educator and activist who who has been working with youth and community for over 20 years in efforts to reduce recidivism, increase economic opportunity and heal trauma through the arts and cultural preservation. He is the founder of Downtown TAY and creator of the Sankofa Sessions, which he holds space for youth both at Juvenile Hall's Camp Sweeney in addition to providing cultural and peer support workshops at Downtown TAY and other local organizations.
In 2015, he was recognized by Alameda County Mental Health Association for his outstanding work in the mental health field with young boys and girls of color and continues to spread his expertise and passion with several community based and non-profit organizations while building his own wellness and cultural hub.
